SJC Rotarians Clean Up

On Saturday, September 18th the San Juan Capistrano Rotary's Environmental Committee participated in the annual Coastal Cleanup Day at Dana Point Harbor. Jerry Neve, Tom Hoon, Maureen Gebelein, Vanessa Schwartz, Charlie Bishop, and Patti Bishop joined "Stand Up for Trash” at Baby Beach to scour the beach in search of trash – collecting almost seven pounds of a variety of trash including debris from an oil change scored by Vanessa.

In 2019 over 74,000 volunteers removed 900,000 pounds of trash from the beaches and waterways in California. It is expected this year’s collection will surpass that amount, especially since last year the event was held virtually with volunteers working on an individual basis.
